Travel Phlebotomist OpportunityShift: D/E/N Rotating - 8x5 - 07,19 Weekly Hours: 40Description: The Medical Technicians are responsible for performing pre-analytical procedures. Venipuncture execution involves selecting appropriate veins and performing precise venipuncture, capillary punctures, or finger sticks based on patient age and condition. Patient identification requires verifying patient identity using at least two unique identifiers to prevent misidentification errors. Order assessment includes reviewing laboratory requisitions to understand specific test requirements and determining the correct draw sequence. Specimen labeling mandates labeling collected blood tubes immediately at the bedside with exact patient data, collection time, and initials. Patient management involves explaining procedures clearly to calm nervous patients, managing needle phobias, and maintaining a compassionate bedside manner. Safety and infection control require following strict aseptic techniques and infection control protocols to minimize contamination risks. Post-care management includes bandaging puncture sites, monitoring patients for adverse reactions, and providing post-draw care instructions. Specimen processing involves centrifuging, separating, and storing samples at required temperatures. Inventory stocking includes cleaning draw stations, monitoring expiration dates on collection tubes, and restocking supplies.Qualifications/Requirements: Degree/Education: Completion of a Phlebotomist Certification program General Knowledge: Possess the ability to pass a government background check/security clearance. Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) should be certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathology Board of Registry (ASCP-BOR) but is not mandatory.
