Lab Assistant/PhlebotomistJob Title: Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist Profession: Laboratory Specialty: Phlebotomist Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 (08:30 - 17:00) Experience: 1-2 years preferred, 1 year acceptable for first-time travelers License: Washington MA-P License required Certifications: None specified Must-Have: - Proven experience with blood culture, heel stick, hospital procedures, neonatal screening, outpatient lab tasks, post venipuncture site care, proper labeling, syringe method, vacutainer method, specimen processing, computer logging, and EPIC data entry.Description: Responsible for following laboratory protocols, policies, and safety procedures. Answers technical questions regarding laboratory procedures and policies. Troubleshoots and resolves problems and customer service issues, such as pending orders, specimen draws, and locating lost specimens. Generates reports and faxes as assigned while competently using computer systems. Maintains a clean and organized working environment and ensures work areas are properly stocked with supplies. Takes inventory and orders supplies as needed. Handles incoming supplies by properly storing and managing them. Maintains assigned equipment according to established laboratory procedures. Disposes of specimens and hazardous wastes safely and appropriately following laboratory protocols. Flexibility to meet department needs, including shift adjustments as necessary.
