As a Laboratory Processor, you'll play a critical role in ensuring specimens are received, prepared, and handled with accuracy, care, and attention to detail. Your work directly supports providers, patients, and the clinical teams who rely on timely, precise lab results.If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, value accuracy, and enjoy being part of a collaborative healthcare team, this role could be a great fit.What You'll DoIn this essential role, you'll support laboratory operations by:Receiving, registering, and verifying patient specimens and test requests for accuracyReviewing patient demographics, billing information, and diagnoses, and resolving discrepanciesServing as a key resource for specimen inquiries while providing excellent customer servicePreparing specimens through centrifugation, aliquoting, labeling, measuring, and packagingEnsuring proper storage, handling, and shipment of specimens for in-house and reference testingAccurately entering data, scanning documents, and maintaining electronic and paper recordsCommunicating critical values and managing failed fax notifications as neededFollowing laboratory procedures, safety protocols, and quality standards at all timesWorking independently while exercising sound judgment and attention to detailContributing to process improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency and qualityWhat We're Looking ForPrior laboratory or medical office experienceStrong attention to detail and commitment to accuracyAbility to prioritize tasks and work independently with minimal supervisionExcellent communication and customer service skillsComfort working with data entry, documentation, and laboratory systemsKnowledge of or ability to learn laboratory safety practices and specimen handling proceduresA team-oriented mindset with a dedication to high-quality workWork Environment & ExpectationsFrequent concentration and sustained attention to detailRegular handling of laboratory specimens and materialsPhysical tasks may include standing, lifting up to 30 lbs, bending, and fine hand-eye coordinationAdherence to all safety protocols and infection prevention standardsWhy Meritus?At Meritus, you're more than an employee — you're part of a mission-driven organization committed to improving the health of our community.
