Laborer/GroundmanAt MasTec Communications Group we build for the future. Yours and ours. Join the MasTec family and help us provide the highest level of quality service to our customers and communities while maintaining our commitment to safety!Responsibilities As a Laborer/Groundman, you will support aerial and underground telecom construction projects nationwide. You believe in doing the job right. Being the best. And you're up for the challenge. In addition, you will:Be responsible for various manual tasks such as digging trenches, unloading building materials, and preparing job sites with the use of hand tools like shovels, rakes, and picksPerform fiber blowing operations as directed, assisting in the installation of fiber optic cable in conduits using fiber-blowing equipmentConduct general labor on construction sitesConduct placement of conduit as directed by the Foreman or SupervisorBe involved in map reading and directionsSupport with trench digging and closingSupport with the movement of materials and vehicles as directed by the Foreman or SupervisorConduct maintenance services as directed by the Foreman to include: Cleanup, Wash Vehicles, and LandscapingPerform all duties according to prescribed safety procedures and use appropriate safety equipmentBe involved with vehicle and equipment operations from trucks to other equipment, as directed and certifiedTow various trailers with flatbed trucksConduct Aerial/Underground work as needed and directed, and as trainedTroubleshoot RF and Fiber line and/or equipment issuesConstruct and repair underground RF and Fiber serviceLearn how to read and construct from a design schematic or mapLearn all the inventory and equipment required for these projectsAs applicable, learn and be certified on the use of equipment: Line truck, Bucket truck, Cable Reel equipment, Saws, and drills Climb poles with climbing equipment safely Move and relocate RF and Fiber service Be familiar with NESC (National Electrical Safety Commission) safety guidelinesQualifications About You: Safety is a part of your day-to-day You have a track record of completing work with a high level of quality You have a knack for figuring out hard problems and enjoy a hands-on approach to your work You are looking for long-term projects You enjoy getting your hands dirty with your team You can lift and carry up to 70 lbs Have the ability to read and understand maps, drawings, and diagrams for the project build process Ability to read and understand design schematics and maps Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment Willing and able to get a DOT Med Card if needed Valid driver's license with a clean record for the past 3 years (CDL preferred)
