Landscape & Grounds TechnicianACU is affiliated with the fellowship of the Church of Christ. This position requires the employee to be a professing Christian and to be willing to support the Christian mission of ACU.Multiple positions available: Team Lead, Landscape & Grounds Tech, Groundskeeper, Landscape Gardener, Off-Campus Landscape/Grounds Tech.Work as a team in maintaining the landscape & grounds in your zone in an effort to enhance the beauty of ACU.Basic Responsibilities:A. Works as directed by the immediate supervisor and/or the Director of Landscape & GroundsB. Work as a team in maintaining the landscape & grounds in your zone in an effort to enhance the beauty of ACU. Assist other trades & grounds personnel as needed in spirit of cooperation and team workC. Continue to develop & cross-train in a manner that will keep personnel up-to-date and safeEssential Duties:A. Works as directed by the immediate supervisor and/or the Director of Landscape and Grounds1. Follow established rules, policies, and procedures of the Landscape and Grounds Department and ACU2. Order materials and supplies as needed for the completion of work orders3. Fill out work orders and written reports daily4. Display necessary work initiative to work alone or in groupsB. Maintain the water quality, clean and monitor the mechanical parts of the fountains in the ACU landscape to the university's standardC. Assist other trades and grounds personnel as needed in spirit of cooperation and teamworkD. Continue to develop and cross-train in a manner that will keep personnel up-to-date and safe:1. Attend ACU approved, work-related training sessions2. Clean and maintain equipment to extend the life of the equipment, and maintain resources of the University3. Perform work in a safe mannerProfessional Development Requirements:A. Skills:1. Knowledge of hand and power tools2. Skilled in all areas of water quality and fountain/pool maintenance.B. Training Modules Required:1. Written and verbal communication skills2. Must have basic safety training3. Emphasize excellent customer relations and serviceQualifications:A. Professional:1. High school diploma or GED and five (5) years of hands-on experience with landscape, grass & interior plant materials2. Or Associate degree in HorticultureB. Personal:1. Successful candidate must be honest, trustworthy, dependable, responsible, punctual, and have a good moral character and work ethic2. Must submit to post offer, pre-employment physical examination/medical history check3. Possession of a valid Texas driver's license is a requirement of this job4. Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check5. Must be neat & clean in appearance at all timesPhysical Demands:A. Good health & stamina to lift; carry & pull loads in excess of fifty (50) poundsB. Must be able to climb a ladderC.
