Landscape Care Team TechnicianFor 27 years, Southern Landscape Group has been Central Virginia's premier landscape design/build and maintenance firm. Our modern fleet of equipment & trucks, modern facility & technology, and focus on safety make working here a mutually beneficial experience.A Landscape Care Team Technician is an experienced team member working under the supervision of a team leader. The primary function of a Landscape Care Team Technician is to assist the Landscape Care Team Leader in performing horticultural services on client properties. A Landscape Care Team Technician is able to operate a variety of equipment and has thorough horticultural knowledge as well as lighting, water gardens, and irrigation.Job functions include:Reviewing job notes for clear understanding of scope of work to be performed on daily basisRead, measure, and interpret landscape plansWorking knowledge and understanding of pesticides usedMix and apply various pesticides using proper PPE and application techniquesPerform the following landscape services:Landscape bed maintenance: spray and pull weedsPruning: horticulturally correct tree/shrub/perennial pruning and dead headingPlant health: identify, diagnose, and treat plant health issues regarding diseases and insectsIrrigation: minor irrigation repairsWater features: care & maintenance of pumps, aquatic plants, water chemistry, and fishLighting: repair and replace low-voltage lightingFloral services: annual plant identification, bed preparation, proper plant installation, layout, care and maintenanceSpring clean-ups: bed cleanout, bed edging, pre-emergent, plant fertilization, and mulch installationBlowing: using handheld or backpack blower to blow off all hard surfacesSnow removalAny other tasks necessary.Operates small and medium duty tools and equipment to include but not limited to: hedge trimmers, backpack blowers, bed edgers, re-definers, rototiller, string trimmer, ladder, backpack sprayer, dump trailer/bed, mulching trailer, wheel loader, tape measure, plumb bob, levelIdentifies enhancement ideas to improve client property and submits to team leaderLearns and has a working knowledge of all properties, responsibilities and knows limits of work.Working conditions include time spent in an outdoor environment with limited ability to control noise, airborne contaminants, and temperature. Be able to lift 50 pounds regularly. The team member is expected to work the assigned hours at Southern Landscape Group from Monday through Friday as well as weekends & overtime as dictated by seasonal needs. This is an hourly wage position with a normally expected workday of 7:00 AM until 5:00 PM.Requirements include:A high school degree or GED is required as well as two years of documented experience in the green industryMust have great verbal and written communication skillsMust be able to use Apple technology for time tracking and job managementMust have great analytical problem solving and decision making abilityMust have excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate with clients and professionalsAbility to use Google translate efficiently to communicate with Spanish speaking workersAssist team leader with training and coaching a team of two or more team members to help develop their skills & ensure team members receive proper trainingMaintain a clean, safe, and efficient job site and ensures truck/tools/equipment are properly maintained.Ensure daily tasks are completed on schedule and budget to quality standardResponsible for all tools being returned to the shop at the end of a workday and tagging any tools needing repairsAbility to drive truck & trailer combinationsMaintain a neat and clean professional appearanceWorks as a team member throughout Southern Landscape Group with a positive attitudeKnows and supports the company's vision, mission, and core valuesCertifications include:Valid Virginia driver's license with insurable driving recordVDACS Registered Tech Certification (within 1 year of hire)CPR/First Aid Certification (within 1 year of hire)
