Landscaper/Driver (Pontiac) Experience and Chauffeur's License RequiredLocation: Pontiac, MI, United StatesJob Type: Regular Full TimePay Range: $18-$21 per hour and is based on previous related work experience as well as any licenses/certifications you hold.The Best Teams are Created and Maintained Here.Job SummaryThe Landscaper/Driver provides landscape maintenance support to a variety of industrial, commercial, and public properties. This position performs basic tasks with supervision and supports the safe operation of commercial grade landscaping equipment as well as the upkeep of plant material and other landscaping elements. In this role you will also function as the crew driver, as needed but up to daily.Duties and Responsibilities:Drive company vehicle with and without a trailer attached; getting crew and equipment from site to site, as needed but up to daily.Cut turf using various sized power mowers, trimming, and edging using a gas-powered edger/trimmer, and operating a gas-powered blowerPrune shrubs and low trees as needed to improve the shape or growth habit or to remove damaged branchesPlant and maintain flower bedsOperate the edger and line trimmer along sidewalks, flower beds, trees, buildings, fences, and other objectsPick up trash and blow leaves and other organic debris on to the turf before mowing.Mulch the leaves and organic matter when mowing.Perform weeding by hand or using a garden hoe or hula hoePerform basic, preventative maintenance to extend the life of equipmentProperly remove trash, dead plants, and suckers from landscapeMaintain a polite, friendly, responsive demeanor with guests and customersReport unsafe conditions to Crew Leader or Production Manager as appropriateEducation and Experience:At least 18 years old,Must have a Chauffeur's license or have the ability to obtain one, at your cost, before an offer can be made.Must submit to and pass a criminal background check, Driver Records check and DOT Medical Physical which includes a Drug Test by Federal Mandate within 48 hours of an offer being made.Enthusiastic and dependableAbility to safely work with equipment like power saws and cuttersCertified on level 1 equipment (backpack blower, stick edger, string trimmer, walk-behind mower)Familiar with basic horticultural maintenance operations/practicesPhysical Demands/Requirements:Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs. (mulch, fertilizer, etc.)Ability to load/unload burlaps with plant cuttings onto trailer (up to 50 lbs.)Ability to bend, stoop and twist continuously throughout the dayWork Environment:Work in/or about situations near direct automotive trafficWork near or about natural bodies of waterAbility to work in extreme conditions – temperatures may exceed 100 degrees FahrenheitAbility to work in direct sunlight for extended periods of timeWork outdoors in moderate to extreme heat in dry/humid near automotive traffic, natural bodies of water, fumes, dust, mechanical/electrical hazards and direct sunlight.Requires protective clothing and personal devices: Eye protection, safety vest, gloves, hard hat, ear plugs, long sleeved shirts, and work boots.BrightView offers a suite of health, wellness, and financial benefits to full-time team members.
