Landscaping AssistantReports To: Director of Facilities and MaintenanceWork Days: 12 Months 240 Days - Salary: Classified Schedule LA Level 5 ($32,887 - $41,703)Location: Maintenance Department - FLSA Status: EXEMPTXJob Description: Under general direction, performs a broad range of landscaping, small engine repair, and maintenance of grounds. Maintain an attractive, clean and natural environment in which to learn, and ensure that full educational use of all school grounds facilities are available at all times.Duties and Responsibilities:Care for established lawns by mulching, weeding, grubbing and removing thatch, trimming and edging around flower beds, walks and wallsUse Garden Edgers such as mow and edge lawns, using power mowers, and other small power toolsGather and remove litter, rake, mulch and compost leavesPrune and trim trees, shrubs and hedges, using shears, pruners, or chain sawsTrim and pick flowers, clean flower bedsProvide proper upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, planters and other ground features.Operate powered equipment such as mowers, tractors, twin axle-vehicles, chain saws, electric clippers and pruning sawsUse hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws hedge and brush trimmers, and axesMaintain and perform minor repairs on powered and mechanical ground keeping equipment and tools as skills and experience permitPolicing grounds areas of trash, litter, and debris before cuttingMay be called upon to assist with the work of other maintenance personnel during emergency situationsPerform other duties as assignedRequired Qualifications:A high school diploma (or its equivalent/GED) or a collegiate transcript that demonstrates earned credit(s) or graduationA minimum of two (2) years of direct or related experience in landscaping, horticulture, farming, and/or small engine repair preferredApplication Requirements:Completed Application (HireTrue)Resume (uploaded to application)Three (3) returned References (HireTrue)*PLEASE ENSURE ALL INFORMATION IS CURRENT WITHIN A 6 MONTH PERIOD*Physical Requirements: Physical strength, mobility, dexterity, stamina, and acuity are required to perform job responsibilities.Revised: June 2026
