Job description
Laser Operator - 1st ShiftMetals USA has an immediate opening for a Laser Operator in the Tulsa, OK location. The Laser Operator performs advanced production activities on a variety of burning machines.Duties & Responsibilities:Chooses correct material for the burning job according to work orderSets up machine track, selects proper burning tip, sets gas flow and machine feed ratesPositions work pieces for processing (may operate a combination of different machines)Uses gauges, calipers, squares or rulers for measurementDetermines processing specifications such as materials, burning tips, location of cutting lines, dimensions, tolerances and operational sequencesReviews blueprints, work orders, tooling instructions or other written specificationsSets up and aligns specified material or other fixtures in machine bed using gauges, templates, shims or hand toolsAdjusts controls to set depth and feed ratesPerforms quality control inspections on finished product; for ISO-certified locations, performs In Process Quality InspectionsDiagnoses problems and makes necessary adjustments and removes scrap from machineCoordinates and executes material handling to be processed including operation of overhead craneCompletes work order paperwork/documentationRestocks materialMay mark identification on material/work pieces before processingMay mark material after processing; store material for additional processing and/or shippingPerforms other related duties as assigned or requestedMetals USA offers a competitive starting salary and benefits plus upward mobility professional growth.Metals USA provides equal employment opportunities to applicants and employees without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status or disability.Metals USA is committed to protecting our employees by creating and maintaining a workplace free of substance abuse.Basic reading and writing comprehension in English (to read instructions, tickets, safety, and policy manuals)Basic measuring skills to read and convert English and Metric systemsBasic arithmetic skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractionsBasic knowledge of Microsoft Windows software (for loading up design to be burned)Minimum one (1) year experience in operating burning machine or as machine operator helperExperience on overhead crane operationDemonstrated manual dexterity, finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and multi-limb coordinationCandidate must pass a pre employment drug screening.Physical Demands:Occupation requires physical activity more than 66% of the time (> 5.5 hours per day)Stand, walk, sit, handling/fingering, reach outward, reach above shoulder, climb, squat or kneel or bendLift, carry, push and/or pull 51 -- 100 lbs. with assistanceOther Physical Requirements:Must wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE)Steel-toed boots or metatarsal bootsHard hats with chin strap; chin strap must be worn at all times while in the warehouseProtective eyewearHand protectionArm guards/sleevesHearing protection if required by the hearing conservation programWork Environment:May be exposed to some of the following working conditions.Environmental temperature changes hot & coldWorking inside and outside of an industrial warehouseModerate to loud levelsVibrationOils, dust, fumes and metallic particlesDay and night shifts
