Now Hiring: Lateral Firefighter ParamedicThe City of South Jordan is hiring full time Lateral Firefighter Paramedics to join our Fire Department. This position provides emergency medical services, firefighting, and rescue support across a wide variety of incidents. Eligible candidates must have at least one year of verifiable full-time experience as Firefighter Paramedic / EMT.Key Responsibilities:Respond to fire, rescue, medical, and hazardous materials emergenciesProvide advanced and basic life support; assess, treat, and transport patientsPerform fire suppression activities including search and rescue, ventilation, and overhaulOperate and maintain firefighting and emergency medical equipmentConduct life safety inspections, hydrant testing, and pre-incident planningDeliver public education programs on safety and emergency preparednessParticipate in ongoing training, station maintenance, and equipment readiness.Complete reports, documentation, and administrative tasksMinimum Qualifications:High school diploma or GEDValid Utah Class D Driver LicenseUtah Paramedic licenseMust have at least one year of verifiable, full-time firefighting experienceAdvanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advance Life Support CertificationCPR certification for healthcare providersUtah Firefighter II and Hazardous Materials Operations certifications or ability to obtainMust meet department physical ability standardsSkills & Abilities:Knowledge of emergency medical procedures, fire suppression tactics, and rescue operationsProficient in the use of firefighting and EMS equipmentStrong communication and teamwork skillsAbility to make sound decisions in high-stress situationsComfortable working in all weather conditions and high-risk environmentsWork Conditions:Exposure to hazardous conditions including fire, smoke, extreme temperatures, and traumatic incidents.Requires physical strength, endurance, and mental resilience.Work schedule includes rotating 48-hour shifts, weekends, holidays, and possible emergency call-outs.Involves extended periods of physical exertion and irregular sleepWhy Join South Jordan Fire Department?Serve in a growing and supportive community.Access to high-quality equipment and training.Opportunities for growth and professional development.Be part of a team focused on safety, service, and excellence.Apply Today to join our team and serve the City of South Jordan
