Laundry Worker/HousekeeperAre you seeking a full-time Laundry Worker/Housekeeping position with a team that puts Hospitality first? If so, you will love joining the team of rock stars at North Oaks, a premier retirement community in Pikesville, Maryland!The Laundry/Housekeeper is responsible on assigned days for laundering for the residents, health center, and dining room such as washing, ironing, folding, sorting, etc. of clothing and linens. The Laundry/Housekeeper is also responsible on assigned days for the cleanliness and neatness of assigned apartments and common areas.Shift and Schedule: full-time non-exempt position. 7am-3:30pm, 5 days/week with rotating weekends and holidays.Essential Duties:Sort, wash, dry, and fold the Community laundry.Ensures that all Health Center laundry is properly sorted, washed and dried according to State and Federal regulations.Ensures that the laundry room is maintained in a clean, orderly and sanitary condition.Performs general housekeeping duties in apartments, such as vacuuming, cleaning bathrooms and kitchens, and dusting all cleared flat surfaces.Performs general housekeeping duties of hallways and common areas as directed by supervisor.Accomplishes all work in the order of priority set by supervisor.Maintains all equipment and supplies in proper condition.Maintains resident confidentiality at all times.Other Duties:Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned.Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.Observes all safety rules and regulations.HIPAA Compliance – follows written policies and procedures to ensure confidentiality of protected health information.OIG Compliance – follows written policies and procedures to comply with the federal and state laws and regulations.Interacts with residents and coworkers in a friendly and respectful manner.Qualifications:Ability to understand and follow instructions in English and communicate effectively.Commercial laundry experience and previous housekeeping experience is desirable but not required.Ability to process 50-60 pounds of laundry at a time.Compliance with North Oaks immunization requirements.Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Moderate to heavy physical effort 95% of the workday including repetitive folding movements, and strenuous pulling movements. Must be able to stoop and work from a kneeling position, perform repetitive bending, reaching and stretching. Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. independently. Must be able to push and/or pull wheeled carts and equipment weighing up to 100 lbs. over tiled and carpeted surfaces over long distances. Must be able to operate a vacuum, work in confined spaces around furniture and breakable objects, and have constant contact with residents. Must be able to stand, reach, and walk 90% of the workday. May be exposed to communicable diseases from contaminated linens including influenza, HIV and Hepatitis.
