Laydown Yard Associate (Contract) – Eastern Pennsylvania
About our client
Our client is a fiber infrastructure company that builds and operates high-capacity networks connecting data centers, businesses and carriers. As demand for cloud and digital services grows, the company is expanding its fiber network across the U.S. You will support the construction crews expanding the company’s fiber network in Eastern Pennsylvania.
About the role
Help support our client's fiber construction in Eastern Pennsylvania by running a satellite materials yard. You will receive, organize and load out conduit, fiber and other materials for construction crews, and you will work independently with light supervision.
Logistics
- Location: Eastern Pennsylvania. You will start at a temporary yard in Leighton, PA and move to a new yard in Hazleton, PA (about 50 minutes away) once it is ready, expected in the coming weeks
- Work setup: fully on-site, outdoors
- Yard: about one acre; activity peaks during truck deliveries and crew loadouts, with quiet time in between
- Pay: $25
- Contract: 6 months through Brooksource, with possible extension
- Overtime: expected, especially around delivery windows
- Safety gear: PPE provided (hard hat, vest and similar)
- Start date: November 2 or November 9
- Interview process: phone screen and video interview with Brooksource, then a one-hour interview with our client
What you will do
- Receive inbound deliveries: count and inspect materials, note condition, and complete accurate receiving records
- Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks and other material-handling equipment in line with safety standards
- Load and unload trucks efficiently, staging or storing materials according to workflow needs
- Enter receipts, transfers, adjustments and picks into the inventory system in real time
- Keep conduit, fiber and other materials organized, and keep the yard clean and safe
- Support scheduled cycle counts and help reconcile any discrepancies
- Load out materials for contractor crews
- Possibly make runner trips delivering materials to field crews in a company vehicle, on a route of about 200 to 300 miles across the region
- Work independently with minimal on-site supervision
What we are looking for
- Forklift certification (you will need to provide proof of certification)
- OSHA 10, construction focus (Brooksource covers the cost during onboarding)
- Trustworthy and self-directed; comfortable working on your own with downtime between deliveries
- A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record for runner trips
- Warehouse, receiving or construction materials experience preferred
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather and to lift as needed
- Flexibility for overtime during delivery spikes
