Job Summary:
NextGen Federal Systems is an innovative technology and professional services provider specializing in advanced software solutions. They are seeking a Lead Cloud Engineer who will be responsible for the design, implementation, optimization, and oversight of cloud infrastructure on their Federal Law Enforcement program.
Responsibilities:
• Architect scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure solutions following industry best practices
• Define and enforce cloud architecture standards to ensure consistency, security, performance, and efficiency
• Monitor cloud environments (e.g., AWS and Azure) for performance issues, troubleshoot complex problems, and resolve bottlenecks to maintain system health and reliability
• Implement and manage robust security protocols and practices in line with industry standards and government regulations to ensure system compliance
• Lead efforts to optimize cloud spend by analyzing usage, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and implementing effective cost management strategies
• Leverage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation to automate deployment, scaling, and management of cloud infrastructure
• Support cloud-native development models including the use of containers, Kubernetes, and microservices to enhance flexibility and scalability
• Provide mentorship and technical leadership to a team of cloud engineers, ensuring adherence to cloud governance policies and delivery excellence
• Collaborate with enterprise IT, security, and development teams to integrate cloud services with existing infrastructure and solutions
• Stay up to date with emerging cloud technologies and industry trends to continuously improve the organization’s cloud strategy
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Management, or a related field
• Minimum of six (6) years of recent experience (within the last two years) providing cloud engineering support similar in scope to the work described in the PWS
• Demonstrated experience with cloud-native architectures, including containerization (e.g., Docker), orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes), and microservices
• Deep expertise in Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure, with a solid understanding of cloud computing components such as networking, storage, compute, and security
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell for automation and infrastructure management
• Proven ability to lead and mentor engineering teams, with strong collaboration and communication skills for cross-functional teamwork
