Job description

Campus Custodial SupervisorSupervise the campus custodial operations. Ensure routine cleaning and maintenance procedures are followed to maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of building operations and grounds.Qualifications:Education/Certification: High school diploma or GED preferredSpecial Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of minor repair techniques and building and grounds maintenance Ability to read, write, and understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance, and safety Ability to operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipment Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies Ability to use computer software to develop spreadsheets, databases, and do word processing Ability to work independently Ability to respond after hours to emergency issuesExperience: Two (2) years' experience in custodial services. Prior supervisory experience preferred.Major Responsibilities and Duties:Direct and monitor the work of custodians at assigned campus.Help screen, recommend, and train custodians.Direct and assist in setting up facilities for special events.Implement and maintain established cleaning schedule that include cleaning of floors, walls, wastebaskets, windows, furniture, equipment, and restrooms.Keep school building and grounds, including sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, and play areas, neat and clean.Comply with local laws and procedures for storage and disposal of trash.Maintain an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment and order additional supplies as needed in accordance with established district procedures.Assist with lunchroom set up, including arranging tables and chairs.Regulate heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide appropriate temperatures and ensure economical usage of fuel, water, and electricity.Make minor building repairs as needed and report any repeated and/or major repair needs to supervisor and principal.Move furniture or equipment within building as directed by principal.Assume responsibility for opening and closing building each school day.Oversee procedures for locking, checking, and safeguarding facilities.Check daily to ensure all exit doors are open and all panic bolts are working properly during hours of building occupancy.Inspect machines and equipment for safety and efficiency.Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.Attend all required training as directed.The foregoing statements describe the general purpose and responsibilities assigned to this job and are not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required.Supervisory Responsibilities: Monitor and direct the work of custodians.Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:Tools/Equipment Used: Buffer, stripper, wet and dry vacuum cleaner, electric drill, hand tools, shampooer, and other building equipment used in the routine of maintaining the cleaning of the building.Posture: Frequent standing, sitting, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twistingMotion: Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, reaching, and overhead reachingLifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basisEnvironment: Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and materials; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hoursMental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stressApplicants for all positions are considered without regard to race, color, sex (including pregnancy), national origin, religion, age, disability, genetic information, veteran or military status, or any other legally protected status.
