Job description

The Electrical Engineer assists in design, development, implementation, and analysis of parts, systems and technical processes. Performs engineering design and analysis tasks with standard techniques. Works with mechanical engineering, other electrical engineers, and designers in the preparation of plans, designs, computation methods and reports. Completes engineering projects and electro-mechanical system designs to support the successful development, implementation, and sustainment of new systems and products, or modifications and revisions to current systems and products.

The Electrical Engineer position offers a variety of engineering opportunities including testing, design, 2D drafting, analysis, and prototyping.

Primary and Essential Duties and Responsibilities

2D CAD design experience required (AutoCAD software experience preferred)

Work with mechanical engineers and designers to build 3D electrical enclosure layouts (Solid Works experience would be considered a plus)

Complete designs with and direct technical activities of assigned designers and technicians

Use of Product Data Management (PDM) software for revision control (Solid Works EPDM experience would be considered a plus)

Create/edit BOMs using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software (SAP experience preferred)

Familiarity with analog and digital electrical circuits and components

Familiarity with electrical component selection and panel wiring

Familiarity with communication buses such as RS232/RS422/RS485, CAN bus, LVSB, and Ethernet preferred

Follow standard project management practices

Proactively identifies and mitigates risk

Receives and follows direction

Works professionally with teammates and colleagues

Reports progress and status

Completes assigned tasks on time and budget while meeting technical requirements

Reviews customer specifications and requirements, and under direction develops designs to best support them

Implements design to cost, for manufacture, and for assembly

Adheres to all quality and safety standards

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities

May participate in cross-functional teams and work groups

Supports, communicates, reinforces and defends the mission, values and culture of the organization

Supports other projects and performs duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities

Does not supervise others

Years Experience Education Level

Strong performance record as engineer >5 years full-time professional experience. 3 years minimum to consider with strong resume and advanced degree.

BS Engineering from accredited school and engineering work experience or equivalent experience required; MS Engineering or passed FE exam preferred

Experience with AutoCAD for electrical systems design

Professional use of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) / Product Data Management (PDM) software (Solid Works EPDM preferred)

ERP/MRP software proficiency (SAP preferred)

Experience developing control systems including electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, wire lists, and enclosure layouts (PCB experience considered a plus)

Experience working with engineering project management tools

Work is accomplished in a typical office environment with adequate environmental (heating/cooling) control. The noise level in the work environment is moderate due to noises associated with computer equipment and environmental control systems.

This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets

Access to operations and manufacturing areas may involve exposure to loud noises, dust, fumes, oils, and fluctuations in temperature

Physical Demands

Performs all work in accordance with safety and workmanship and good housekeeping specifications

While performing the duties of this job, the employee alternates between sitting and standing/walking for long periods of time

This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds

Ability to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), as required per plant rules

Light assembly and fitting of manufactured parts as part of protype building or assembly line troubleshooting

Training

New employee safety orientation and training on special tools or software required for job performance
