Job Description Job Description Join Our Team as a Lead Electrician at Carolina Voltage!

Carolina Voltage is a quality electrical contractor with a tight-knit team, strong field standards, and a commitment to serving customers throughout the Charlotte region. As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced Lead Electrical Service Technician who can perform high-quality electrical work while leading a small field team, communicating clearly with stakeholders, and keeping accurate job records from dispatch through completion.

Job Overview

The Lead Electrician is responsible for running electrical service calls and small projects in the field. This role is both a technician and a field leader. You will troubleshoot and complete electrical work, direct other technicians, communicate with customers, document work in detail, and make sure each job is completed safely, cleanly, and correctly.

This position requires strong technical ability, sound judgment, clear communication, and pride in workmanship. The Lead Electrician should be able to take ownership of the jobsite, keep the office informed, help train less experienced team members, and represent Carolina Voltage professionally in front of customers.

What You'll Do:

Lead a small field team of apprentices or technicians on service calls, repairs, and small installations.

Assign tasks, set expectations, and verify work is completed safely and correctly.

Keep the team productive with strong organizational skills.

Escalate jobsite issues, customer concerns, material delays, safety hazards, or scope changes to management promptly.

Troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain electrical systems, equipment, wiring, devices, panels, lighting, controls, and related components.

Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, wiring diagrams, job notes, and manufacturer documentation.

Identify unsafe conditions and recommend proper corrective action.

Perform work in accordance with applicable electrical codes, company standards, permit requirements, and safety best practices.

Work indoors and outdoors, including attics, crawlspaces, ladders, scaffolding, lifts, uneven surfaces, and varying weather conditions.

Communicate professionally with customers at the beginning, during, and end of each job.

Explain the issue, proposed repair, work plan, expected impact, and any changes in scope in clear, practical language.

Provide job updates to the office, dispatcher, manager, or customer as needed.

Document all work performed in Service Titan using clear notes, photos, time entries, materials, recommendations, and customer-facing explanations.

Capture before-and-after photos, test results, equipment information, and any deficiencies or follow-up needs.

Prepare accurate job summaries that can support invoicing, customer records, warranty review, and future service calls.

Create or assist with service estimates, repair recommendations, and change approvals when additional work is identified.

Complete paperwork, electronic records, safety notes, and closeout information accurately and on time.

What You'll Need:

High school diploma or equivalent essential. Vocational or technical training in Electrical systems is strongly preferred.

Valid state-issued driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Minimum of 5 years of electrical field experience, with demonstrated ability to lead others in the field.

Strong troubleshooting skills across commercial and light industrial electrical service work.

Experience supervising helpers, apprentices, or junior technicians preferred.

Experience using Service Titan or another field service/jobbing platform.

Ability to document work using detailed notes, photos, time entries, materials, and customer-ready descriptions.

Working knowledge of electrical codes, jobsite safety practices, lockout/tagout principles, and safe electrical work procedures.

Strong verbal communication skills with customers, field employees, office staff, vendors, and management.

Strong written communication skills, including accurate job notes and service documentation.

Ability to identify when a job requires additional approval, materials, scheduling support, or management involvement.

Ability to work independently while also leading a small team.

Must have a team-first mindset, professional appearance, and customer-service orientation.

Must pass a background check and drug screening.

Benefits Included:

Comprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision Benefits
