AdvanSix strives to deliver best-in-class customer experiences and differentiated products in the industries of nylon solutions, chemical intermediates, and plant nutrients, guided by our core values of Safety, Integrity, Accountability and Respect.Position Summary: The Lead First Line Supervisor works to achieve operational targets and standards by directing hourly employees to complete tasks that have a direct impact on overall results within assigned job area(s).Duties and Responsibilities:Ensure assigned tasks are achieved through supervision of direct reportsPlan and administer procedures and budgets in compliance with collective bargaining agreementLead and direct the workforce in problem identification, problem solving, and implementing continuous improvement measuresEngage team leaders and employees to improve department/area processes and performanceManage overall performance within a 10-20 employee department (adherence to standard work, attendance, safety, code of conduct, etc.) to achieve expected standards in the areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Productivity and CostEnsure compliance with all health, safety and environmental regulations, which includes protecting the environment and communityInterview, select, and provide training for team leaders and employeesCreate a work environment conducive to employee morale and motivation to accomplish performance objectivesManage performance including setting/adjusting pay rates, rewarding/recognizing, and discipliningCommunicate with team leaders daily and make decisions on issues related to productivityCommunicate daily with other shifts and peers regarding safety, quality, productivity, staffing, equipment, and continuous improvement activitiesAct as the first point of contact for team leaders in escalation process of problems/concernsCommunicate AdvanSix Operating System principles to employees to improve their understanding and executionCommunicate and conduct performance appraisals, both formal and informalDrive the creation and improvement of standardized workAudit team leaders standardized work to ensure adherence to standard processes and proceduresMake departmental decisions around waiving or deviating established procedures, considering all safety, environmental, or operational protocols and requirementsConduct training and audit standardized workManage and adjust employee work schedulesEstablish and share best-in-class manufacturing processesLead and execute the 5S activities to maintain the area to standardDrive a continuous improvement culture by instilling Plan, Do, Check, Act methodologyConstantly search for improvement and continually seek to eliminate wasteEvaluate, address, and support employee suggestions and ideas for continuous improvementPractice rapid-problem solving processes to ensure corrective action at the appropriate levelExecute the escalation process, as appropriateBasic Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or bachelor's degree in a technical or related field preferred2-5 years of relevant experience, experience in a manufacturing, industrial, and/or chemical plant environment preferredSupervisory experience preferredAdditional Qualifications:Experience working in a 24/7 operation preferredExperience working on a rotating shift preferredMay require working in adverse weather conditions (cold, hot, humid, rain, snow, etc.)Knowledge of and experience working in chemical process operations preferredExperience working in a unionized environment preferredStrong commitment to safetyKnowledge and demonstrated use of Six Sigma Lean tools preferredComputer proficiency in ERP/ Timekeeping (SAP/RF, Kronos preferred), and Microsoft OfficeDemonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsDemonstrated mechanical and electrical aptitudeDemonstrated leadership skillsDemonstrated ability to motivate others to achieve safety and productivity goalsDemonstrated conflict resolution skillsDemonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environmentDemonstrated ability to work effectively in a unionized environmentDemonstrated ability to initiate and implement changeThe base salary range is $86,400 to $129,600 annually.We offer a range of market-competitive total rewards that include periodic pay rate adjustments based on market competitiveness. Hired applicants will be eligible for paid holidays, paid time off including vacation, eligibility to purchase company stock, tuition reimbursement, and a 401K with a competitive company match. Certain roles may be eligible for discretionary financial benefits such as incentive pay, equity awards, and participation in a deferred compensation plan.Hired applicants will be eligible for medical, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending and health savings account eligibility, employer-provided short term disability benefits, eligibility to purchase long term disability benefits, employer-provided basic life insurance and eligibility to purchase voluntary life coverages.The pay range, incentives and benefits listed above are general guidelines only and not a guarantee of total compensation or benefits. The final offer will depend on multiple factors, including but not limited to, the responsibilities of the job, experience, education, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as the job location, applicability of a collective bargaining agreement, length of service, internal equity, and alignment with market data. The incentive pay is dependent on your role, business results and individual performance.
