Job TitleWaterpark LifeguardPay Rate: $20.00 an hourEssential Duties And ResponsibilitiesDirect daily work activities and inspect completed work for conformance to standardsMaintain an environment that is safe and pleasant for patronsFulfill all functions and duties of a lifeguard as neededConduct monthly in-service or other training sessionsInspect all areas of waterpark, report issues to managementPromote, offer instruction or speak to groups about the Waterpark at Treasure Island or other remote locationsAssist Manager with developing programs to improve the waterpark and increase patronageAssist with pool admissions and selling merchandise following cash handling proceduresBreak pool attendantsKnowledge And Certification, Skills And AbilitiesRequired Knowledge and Certification:High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience2 years of Lifeguard experience, or combination coaching, lifeguard and instructor experienceMust possess Red Cross Lifeguard CertificationFirst Aid and CPR certification and preferably AEDPreferred Knowledge and Certification:2 years supervisory experience2 years cash handling experienceLifeguarding Instructor Course CertificationRequired Skills:Accurate and detail-orientedHighly organized and ability to adapt quickly to changing prioritiesStrong computer skills Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) and WindowsExcellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skillsExcellent problem solving skillsConflict resolution skillsRequired Abilities:Ability to work fast and efficientlyAbility to follow established dress code policies and practice good personal hygieneAbility to interact with guests, coworkers and management in a professional and courteous mannerAbility to enthusiastically and professionally sell Waterpark featuresAbility to speak in a clear, concise and pleasant voice, including projecting across distance in normal and loud situationsAbility to hear noises and distress signalsAbility to observe all areas of the pool with clear visionAbility to remain focused for extended periods of time in a warm environmentAbility to explain and enforce Waterpark safety standards to team members and guestsPhysical DemandsMust be able to walk, stand and/or exert fast-paced mobility throughout the shiftMust have a good sense of balance, and be able to bend and kneel and stoopMust be able to reach and twist routinelyMust be able to push, pull and grasp objects routinelyMust have manual dexterity necessary to manipulate waterpark features, safety equipment, POS system and administer First AidMust be able to perform repetitive hand and wrist motionsMust be able to navigate stairs and work at high elevationsMust have good hand eye coordinationMust be able to perform strenuous physical tasks necessary for a water rescue, including swimming quickly, supporting adult body weight while swimming as far as 50 feet, and removing adult body weight from the poolWorking EnvironmentWork is performed in the Waterpark, which includes flashing lights, frequent loud noises, water and humidity, and pool chemicals, some outdoor work is required and may require going onto the gaming floor which has cigarette smokeMust be willing to work a flexible schedule including all shifts, weekends and holidaysOccasionally must deal with angry or hostile individualsHigh volume direct public contactEqual Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
