About the Role
As Lead Systems Engineer, you'll be instrumental in integrating mechanical, electrical, fluidic, optical, and consumable components into a cohesive platform. You'll help drive development of a complex, fully integrated product — transitioning from prototype to commercial readiness. This role requires deep technical fluency, cross-disciplinary thinking, and a hands‑on approach.
What You'll Do — Systems Integration & Prototyping
Design and build electromechanical subsystems including fluid handling, thermal cycling, and optical detection.
Develop breadboards and alpha prototypes to mitigate technical risk prior to commercial development.
Integrate pumps, valves, manifolds, heaters, sensors, and optics into reliable systems.
Design & Development
Use CAD (SolidWorks preferred) for mechanical design and support prototyping via CNC machining, 3D printing, or injection molding.
Analyze experimental data to inform iterative design (bonus points for Python or MATLAB fluency).
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with software, biology, chemistry, and electronics teams to ensure seamless integration.
Operate with autonomy and a "get it done fast" mindset in a startup environment.
What You Bring
10+ years of experience as a systems engineer in hardware-focused environments.
MS in Engineering preferred but not required.
Proficiency in CAD and one or more data analysis environments (Python, MATLAB, etc.).
