This is more than a machining position—it's an opportunity to build and shape a growing in-house toolroom, introduce new technologies, and become the subject matter expert for one of the most critical functions in our manufacturing operation.If you're passionate about precision craftsmanship, solving complex problems, mentoring others, and continuously improving manufacturing processes, we'd like to meet you.What You'll DoAs our Lead Toolmaker, you'll be responsible for restoring, maintaining, and improving the precision molds that drive our manufacturing operations while helping develop the next generation of our internal repair capabilities.Your responsibilities will include:Repair, rebuild, and maintain precision production molds to restore them to original operating specifications.Machine high-precision replacement components for manufacturing equipment and tooling.Perform manual machining operations using lathes, milling machines, grinders, drill presses, and other toolroom equipment.Diagnose tooling issues and recommend long-term improvements that increase mold life and production efficiency.Perform precision welding, polishing, fitting, and finishing of mold components.Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and CAD models.Partner with Engineering, Maintenance, Production, and Quality teams to improve tooling performance and reduce downtime.Maintain accurate documentation of mold repairs, modifications, and preventative maintenance activities.Support implementation of new manufacturing technologies, equipment, and repair processes.Help develop and grow Vibram's in-house mold repair capabilities and establish best practices for the future.Mentor and train other technicians as the department expands.What Makes This Opportunity DifferentThis isn't a traditional toolmaker position.You'll have the opportunity to:Receive specialized hands-on training with master mold technicians in Italy.Become Vibram's technical expert in mold repair and tooling.Help design and build a modern mold repair department.Evaluate and implement advanced manufacturing technologies.Work independently with significant ownership and autonomy.Influence tooling strategy across the entire manufacturing operation.Grow into a leadership role as the department expands.If you're looking for a position where your experience will shape the future of a manufacturing operation—not just maintain it—this is that opportunity.QualificationsWe're looking for someone who enjoys solving difficult manufacturing problems and takes pride in precision craftsmanship.RequiredFive or more years of experience as a Toolmaker, Mold Maker, Die Maker, or Precision Machinist.Strong manual machining experience including lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, and related toolroom equipment.Experience repairing, fitting, rebuilding, or manufacturing precision tooling or molds.Ability to read blueprints, GD&T, and technical drawings.Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.Ability to work independently while collaborating across multiple departments.Willingness to travel internationally for technical training.PreferredMold repair experience in rubber, plastics, die casting, injection molding, or similar manufacturing environments.TIG welding or precision weld repair experience.CNC machining experience.CAD/CAM experience.Leadership, mentoring, or supervisory experience.Experience implementing new manufacturing technologies or continuous improvement initiatives.Why Vibram?At Vibram, you'll join a company known worldwide for engineering innovation and manufacturing excellence.You'll work alongside experienced engineers, manufacturing professionals, and technical experts while helping build new capabilities that will support our manufacturing operations for years to come.We invest in our people through professional development, advanced technical training, and opportunities to grow into leadership positions.Physical RequirementsAbility to stand, bend, and move throughout the workday.Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.Manual dexterity required for precision machining and mold repair work.If you're an experienced toolmaker looking for the opportunity to build something bigger than parts—to build capability—we encourage you to apply.
