Job description
Leavitt Funeral Services and Crematory is currently seeking highly motivated PartTime Transfer Personnel to join our professional team in Parkersburg. We are looking for self-starters who can maintain a caring, compassionate demeanor while assisting families in sensitive situations.
In this role, you will be responsible for the professional and respectful transport of the deceased from the place of death to our facilities. Staff members also serve as pallbearers and greeters during funeral services. Key responsibilities include accurately communicating information between care facilities and funeral home personnel, completing required documentation, and remaining on call during assigned shifts (5:00 PM – 8:00 AM or 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM).
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:
At least 18 years of age with a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
Ability to lift 225 lbs. with assistance and 125 lbs. without assistance.
Residency within a 20–30 minute response time of our Parkersburg facility.
Strong verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and up-to-date medical vaccinations.
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
Key Responsibilities
Assist Funeral Directors with a variety of tasks during services and visitations.
Manage the movement of caskets, urns, and memorial items.
Greet guests and provide information or assistance upon entry.
Drive the hearse, family limousine, or other vehicles in funeral processions.
Assist with the transfer of the deceased from the place of death to the funeral home.
Communicate accurately with care facilities, medical staff, and families.
Compensation for this position is $18.00 weekday/ $20.00 weekend per hour, paid bi-weekly.
Additionally, we provide shift pay ranging from $32.00 to $64.00 per shift, depending on the specific role performed.
