New York City College of Technology of the City University of New York (CUNY), a comprehensive college offering associate and bachelor’s degree programs in downtown Brooklyn, invites applications for a full-time faculty member in the Dental Hygiene Department, to begin in the Spring or Fall 2027 semester. The vacancy is open for either a tenure-track Assistant Professor or a Lecturer (Doctoral Schedule), a position leading to a Certificate of Continuous Employment (CCE).

The Dental Hygiene Department offers an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree in Dental Hygiene, which is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA). The program prepares students for the evolving needs of the dental profession by offering a two-year full-time program with a comprehensive curriculum encompassing all aspects of Dental Hygiene.

In filling this position, the department seeks an experienced dentist with the leadership potential and the skills needed to play an important role in the dental hygiene program. The successful candidate is expected to be committed to excellence in teaching, demonstrate sustained professional development, and contribute service to the Dental Hygiene Department, the School of Professional Studies, the College, and the University in support of their missions.

Reporting to the Chair of the Department of Dental Hygiene, the successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in the associate degree program, provide clinical instruction and supervision as a licensed dentist in NY State in our on-campus dental hygiene clinic, and provide service to the department, the college and the university. Faculty members are also expected to develop and maintain relationships with professional dental organizations and attend regional and national/international professional and educational conferences such as the Greater New York Dental Meeting, ADA, NYSDA, NYDHA, ADHA and ADEA conferences. In addition to classroom time, the position entails office hours for student support and advisement, and administrative duties within the department to promote curriculum enhancement and program excellence. Weekend and evening hours may be required.

Other duties include, but are not limited to:

Teaching clinical, laboratory, or lecture courses in the Dental Hygiene Department

Preparing quality course material including didactic lectures, clinical/laboratory lesson plans, OSCEs (objective structured clinical examinations) and effective assessment methods designed to meet course objectives and student learning outcomes
