THE POSITION
The Office of General Counsel is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented individual to provide clerical and legal office support within the Prosecution Division of the Department of State. This role allows you to work closely with attorneys while preparing a variety of daily filings that are crucial to protecting the health and safety of the public. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This role supports attorneys by preparing legal documents, reviewing case information, and helping keep office operations organized and accurate. As a Legal Assistant 1, you will perform the following duties:
Legal Support: Prepare filings, review documents, and assist with case processing tasks
Case Review: Analyze incoming matters to determine steps needed for proper handling
System Entry: Submit filings and update case information in the case management system, ensuring records are accurate, complete, and current.
Document Preparation: Proofread correspondence and legal materials for accuracy and necessary redactions
Exhibit Management: Organize and manage exhibits for hearings and appeals, including for filings or binder creation
Office Operations: Process incoming mail and provide phone coverage to the public

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, after 6 months of employment. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $41,506.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Three years of responsible clerical, enforcement or investigative work; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training.
