Job description

Role Overview

Apply law journal cite-checking experience to a remote legal citation project. You will help create high-quality citation-review tasks by applying Bluebook rules, evaluating grading rubrics, and documenting the reasoning behind corrections. Prior AI experience is not required.

Key Responsibilities

Review Bluebook and pincite grading rubrics, identifying rules that are unclear, incomplete, or likely to be applied inconsistently.

Identify uncovered edge cases and recommend how they should be handled.

Create sample cite-checking tasks using source material and citations containing realistic errors, with the correct answer and an explanation of the applicable rule.

Develop tasks across citation types and difficulty levels, including formatting errors, pincite issues, and source-support problems.

Apply Bluebook rules consistently across all submissions.

Escalate ambiguous cases to project coordinators rather than resolving them without guidance.

Deliver assigned work on schedule and meet required quality standards.

Qualifications

Current 2L or 3L law student, or a recent JD graduate.

Law review or law journal experience, ideally involving cite-checking or source collection.

Hands-on knowledge of The Bluebook, including pincites, short forms, signals, and parentheticals.

Ability to explain why a citation is incorrect, not only identify the correction.

Strong attention to detail, consistency during repetitive review work, and comfort handling unclear rules.

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines without close supervision.

Experience as a journal editor, articles editor, or executive editor is a plus.

Work Terms

Remote, independent contractor engagement.

Compensation

$50 to $80 per hour.

Application Process

Submit an application and complete screening questions.

Complete an AI interview that demonstrates your skills to the client.

Your profile will be reviewed by the hiring team.

Selected candidates will complete onboarding before beginning work.
