You will engage in vital mental health evaluations, develop tailored treatment plans, and facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions aimed at improving client outcomes and overall well-being.

About the Organization

At Function First Therapy Center, our mission is to empower individuals on their path to mental wellness. We believe in a holistic approach that addresses both emotional and psychological needs of our clients. Our team consists of passionate professionals committed to providing exceptional care, fostering personal growth, and enhancing the quality of life for those we serve. We pride ourselves on staying updated with contemporary psychotherapy methods and maintaining a supportive and collaborative workplace culture.

Work Environment

The work setting is entirely remote, which offers flexibility and work-life integration. As a telehealth facility, we utilize advanced digital platforms to conduct sessions, ensuring a continuum of care for our clients. Your primary tool will be an electronic health record system, with training provided on AVATAR or other necessary software. We emphasize a culture of collaboration where remote team meetings and consultations are integral to our workflow, supporting interaction among colleagues and ensuring comprehensive care delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct initial mental health evaluations with clients via telehealth platforms, documenting observations thoroughly from the first consultation to the completion of therapy.

Develop individualized and group intervention plans, addressing the unique needs of individuals, couples, families, and other client configurations.

Facilitate engaging individual and group therapy sessions, employing evidence-based practices to foster healing and growth.

Monitor client progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to ensure effective outcomes and improved mental health.

Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including primary care physicians, psychiatrists, and nursing staff, to coordinate comprehensive care plans for clients.

Provide follow-up care for clients requiring hospitalization, ensuring a seamless transition back to outpatient services.

Educate and support family members and primary caregivers on managing mental and behavioral challenges, fostering a family-centric approach to therapy.

Assist in managing referrals to and from other specialized services as needed.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Our clientele consists of individuals experiencing a wide array of mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and addiction disorders. A strong focus is placed on ensuring that therapy is accessible to clients from various demographics, including marginalized groups. Your role will be pivotal in delivering empathetic care, building trusting relationships, and promoting effective coping strategies.

Qualifications

Master's or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

Current and valid licensure as an LMFT, LPC, or LCSW in New Jersey.

Demonstrated successful completion of the National Counseling Examination (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).

At least two years of experience working as a mental health counselor in diverse therapeutic settings.

Proficiency in utilizing electronic health record systems, preferably AVATAR or similar platforms.

Sound understanding of the interaction between mental health, physical health conditions, and substance use disorders.

Familiarity with the best practices as established by the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA).

Exceptional communication skills—both verbal and written—and a strong ability to empathetically engage with clients and their families.

Preferred Experience

Experience working in a telehealth environment or with remote client engagements.

Expertise in trauma-informed care practices.

Knowledge of pharmacological treatments and their effects on mental health.
