School Based Position
Performs intermediate skilled human support work providing support to families, connecting disadvantaged families with services, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the assigned clinical supervisor. This is a school based position serving multiple schools within Dare County. Transcripts must be submitted with the application to be considered for the position. This is a contract position with no benefits.
Job Duties
Interviews clients to assess needs; determines what programs or resources client is eligible to receive; evaluates client's financial situation; completes applications for various programs needed.
Provides planning to improve wellbeing.
Refers and/or connects client with additional resources and programs as appropriate.
Develops a goal plan and strategies for clients for crisis resolution; evaluates client's compliance with program requirements to determine eligibility of benefits.
Provides ongoing support, education, and counseling to families.
Monitors, reviews, and maintains direct client contact in both intake and on-going case management.
Provides suggestions for self-sustainability.
Completes various general administrative and family support tasks as required.
Knowledge of appropriate diagnostic coding and billing for behavioral health.
Position may require work outside of normal business hours.
Performs other assigned duties.
Position Qualifications
Thorough knowledge of social, economic and health problems.
Thorough knowledge of social institutions and the methods of the helping process.
Thorough knowledge of individual and groups behavior; ability to identify social problems and needs to assess the ability of individuals and families to utilize services in problem solving.
Ability to plan and organize work and to understand and interpret laws, policies, and regulations.
Ability to solve problems within the scope of responsibility.
Ability to prepare reports and maintain records; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, associates, court staff, law enforcement staff, mental and medical health providers, social agencies, and the general public.
Education, Experience and Supplemental Information
Master's degree in psychology, clinical social work, marriage and family therapy, clinical counseling or human services related field.
Moderate experience in human services, counseling, child development.
Must hold an independent license to practice as a mental health clinical practitioner in North Carolina or have met the requirements to be licensed in North Carolina at the associate or provisional level as a mental health clinical practitioner.
Valid driver's license.
