Summary of Position
The Licensed Practical Nurse position is responsible for providing professional nursing care to patients.
Principal Accountabilities
Administrative:
Obtains, verifies and records health history of patients.
Prepares equipment to efficiently draw blood.
Monitors inventory of medical supplies and orders when necessary.
Reports malfunctioning machinery to Administration.
Communication:
Promotes wellness by providing patient education materials and communicating physician advice and/or instructions.
Clinical:
Provides physician support by checking height
Provides basic patient care by administering medications
Assists other healthcare professionals in performing exams
Follows established procedures for infection control
Patient Services:
Organizes patient flow and accompanies patient to exam room.
Sets up and cleans exam room before, between and after patient visits.
Performs other job-related duties as required
Qualifications
Education, Training, Licenses, Certifications
High School Diploma or GED
Completion of NYS approved Practical Nursing program.
Current New York State Licensed Practical Nurse License
Relevant Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Minimum of one year experience required as of 2009.
