Licensing & Compliance Project Coordinator
Location: Elmhurst, IL | Onsite
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire
Pay: $40-$45/hour
NextPlay Jobs is partnering with an established organization in the western suburbs of Chicago that is expanding its service capabilities and launching a new national business initiative.
We are seeking a Licensing & Compliance Project Coordinator to help research, organize, and build the licensing and regulatory infrastructure needed to support this expansion.
This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys research, compliance, project coordination, and building processes from the ground up . There is no existing playbook. This person will be responsible for determining requirements across multiple states, working directly with government and regulatory agencies, documenting findings, and creating a sustainable process for managing ongoing compliance.
What You’ll Do
Research licensing, certification, registration, permitting, and regulatory requirements across multiple states
Identify differences in requirements from one jurisdiction to another
Communicate directly with state agencies and regulatory bodies to clarify requirements and navigate application processes
Research both company-level and individual employee/technician licensing and certification requirements
Coordinate applications, registrations, licenses, certifications, and supporting documentation
Track expiration dates, renewals, recertifications, documentation requirements, and other ongoing compliance obligations
Build and maintain centralized Excel-based trackers for requirements, deadlines, documentation, and project status
Develop repeatable processes and workflows that can scale as the program grows
Monitor regulatory changes and identify potential compliance gaps
Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Sales, field teams, leadership, and other internal stakeholders
Provide project updates and proactively drive outstanding items toward completion
What We’re Looking For
Experience with licensing, permitting, certifications, credentialing, registrations, regulatory compliance, or a similar function
Experience researching requirements across multiple states or jurisdictions strongly preferred
Comfortable independently contacting government agencies and regulatory bodies
Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills
Experience managing renewals, expiration dates, recertifications, or other recurring compliance requirements
Ability to organize and manage large amounts of detailed information across multiple deadlines
Strong research and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
Comfortable working independently and figuring out next steps when there is not an established process
Experience building trackers, workflows, processes, or administrative functions from scratch is highly preferred
Transferable Backgrounds
Candidates do not need to come from one specific industry. Relevant experience could include:
Corporate or business licensing
Construction licensing and permitting
Healthcare credentialing
Transportation or fleet compliance
Insurance licensing
Professional licensing
Regulatory compliance
Field service compliance
Franchise or multi-location compliance

You’ll have the opportunity to help determine what the process should be and build it from the ground up . The person hired will have meaningful ownership from the beginning and will play an important role in supporting a new national initiative.
As the program develops, there is also potential for the position to grow into broader project and program coordination responsibilities.
