Job description

Lifeguard PositionThe Town of Castle Rock has outstanding opportunities for part-time Lifeguards in our Parks and Recreation department. These positions will be responsible for ensuring a safe and clean environment for all Town aquatics facilities. They will perform duties in a manner consistent with the stated values of the organization.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Ensures safety of pool patrons; observes pool users, enforces pool rules and regulations, and performs emergency first aid and life-saving techniquesAssists with pool maintenance and cleaningAssists with inspection of the pool and facility at opening and closingPerforms other duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications:An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.Age Requirement: Must be at least 15 years of ageExperience: Preferred candidates will have knowledge in life saving procedures, public relations, pool maintenance, and cleaning duties.Licenses and/or Certifications Required: Must hold the following American Red Cross certifications: Lifeguard Training, First Aid, CPR/Professional Rescuer, AED and Administering Emergency Oxygen, Epi Pin and Rescue Inhaler. ***If certified through the Town Castle Rock and have taken the class within the last six months, the certification is reimbursed after three months of employment. In addition, we are now offering a $0 deposit for any potential employees to take our Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Class! Once you have worked for 3 months the charge for the class will be removed from your account. ***Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of and ability to physically perform various rescue techniques and life-saving proceduresAbility to effectively convey information to pool patronsKnowledge of and skill in using chemical supplies to treat swimming poolsAbility to develop and maintain effective working relationshipsPhysical Demands:Occasional physical work lifting no more than 10 poundsOccasional lifting, carrying, walking and standingOccasionally required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stop, kneel, crouch or crawlFrequent hand/eye coordination to operate personal computer and office equipmentVision for reading, recording and interpreting informationSpeech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizensWork Environment:Extended periods of time in the pool and pool area with exposure to temperature extremes, varying weather conditions, chemicals, water and other conditions found in the pool areaEquipment Used:This position may require the incumbent to occasionally use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employmentMust satisfactorily complete a criminal background check prior to commencing employment.The Town of Castle Rock is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
