LifeguardPosition: LifeguardReports to: Director of Student Life or DesigneeEmployment Status: Part-TimeFLSA Status: Regular/Non-ExemptRate of Pay: $16.00Description: Responsible for overseeing the UAHS pool during practices, meets, special events, and open swim hours.Hours: Mornings (M-F): 5:30 - 7:00 a.m. Afternoons (M-F): 3:30 - 7:00 p.m. Saturdays: 7:00 - 11:00 a.m. *HOURS WILL VARY ON MEET DAYS*Qualifications:Must be at least 15 years of ageCurrently or hold or the ability to participate in and achieve certification for the following: Professional rescuer, First Aid, and Lifeguard CertificationRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Maintaining the required fitness level and alertness on duty to respond effectively to any emergencyAttend all required training programs and meetingsEssential Functions:Maintains constant observation of the pool areaEnsures safety by communicating and enforcing any pool rulesEnsures safety by checking for hazardous conditions and proper safety equipmentCompletes incident and accident reports as requiredMaintains and records accurate records of pool chemical readings, supplies, etc.Add chemicals to the pool as neededMaintains a clean environment by following and recording proper cleaning proceduresSets up and stores equipment by following and recording proper cleaning proceduresSets up and stores equipment and assists other employees with event setupPractices rescue and fitness drills regularlyPromotes aquatics and other YMCA programsCommunicates any suggestions to improve the aquatics facilityClearing swimmers from the pool according to procedure for inclement weather, emergencies, rest periods, drills, and closingEquipment Operated:Additional Working Conditions:Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissueExposure to loud noisesInteractions with unruly childrenInterruption of duties by students, visitors, and/or staffRegular requirement to sit, stand, walk, talk, see, read, speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms, crouch, climb, kneel, and stoopEmployee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance, use in the work place throughout his/her employment with the District.
