Job description

Lifeguard PositionThe University of Denver is seeking motivated and qualified lifeguards to start this summer season. Lifeguards play a crucial role in the safety and health of the DU community. This is a non-benefited position not to exceed 1,000 hours in a calendar year.Essential FunctionsPrevent and respond to any and all emergencies quickly and appropriately.Prevent emergencies from arising by enforcing all rules and regulations.Perform daily maintenance tasks to ensure the safety and health of patrons and the facilities.Attend scheduled quarterly in-services to maintain proper training.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesWillingness to learn and comply with our facility specific health and safety procedures.Ability to sit and stand while maintaining focus for extended periods of time.Ability to communicate efficiently and professionally with other faculty, staff, and patrons.Required QualificationsA minimum of 16 years of age.Current American Red Cross lifeguard certification, or willingness to obtain a Red Cross lifeguard certification.Preferred QualificationsPrevious lifeguarding or aquatics experience.Work ScheduleFlexible shifts available from 7:45am to 8:30pm. Only applications submitted online will be accepted.Hourly RangeThe hourly range for the position is $18.81 - $21.00.The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range.
