Job description
Pool AttendantResponsible for the day-to-day supervision of the pools. Works with staff members to provide all the services necessary that members would expect in the pool. Ensures there are adequate towels and supplies in the pool area and that the pools and pool decks are always clean.Major Job FunctionsThe following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time:Ensures there are plenty of dry, clean bath towels that are folded and available for members useCleans all wet areas, including cold plunge, whirlpool, tiled areas and poolsVacuums the pools as needed during each shiftAssures lost items are turned into the front desk for safekeepingCompletes duties on locker room roster as directedLifeguards the pools at all timesAssists with any emergency in the pool setting per aquatic policyInstructs swim lessons for children and adultsAssists with staffing health fairs and screenings for community business and industry on an as-needed basisOther duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsThe following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:Education and Formal Training:High school diploma or equivalent required OR minimum 16 years old with work permit requiredCertification in First Aid and Red Cross Lifeguard requiredWork Experience:1 year experience working with the public with 6 months of aquatic experience preferredKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:Good communication and organizational skills to maintain a safe environmentAbility to identify problems and bring them to the attention of appropriate staff or solve problems independentlyKnowledgeable of the psychosocial and physiological development and spiritual needs of infants, children, adolescents, and all adult age groups (per Erickson's Model) in order to provide appropriate care and intervention, either personally or through staffPhysical Requirements:Ability to carry up to 50 pounds and/or lift an adult out of the poolExcellent visual and hearing dexterityAbility to tolerate standing, walking, bending, and liftingMay be subjected to exposures to chemicalsRequired Licenses and CertificationsLifeguard - American Red CrossCape Fear Valley Health System is an Equal Opportunity Employer M/F/Disability/Veteran/Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity
