LifeguardMaintains the health and safety of all patrons in the Recreation Center NatatoriumReceives supervision from the Recreation Supervisor and Head LifeguardsEssential Functions:Responsible for maintaining a safe and clean swimming pool environmentResponsible for performing necessary rescues on any person needing assistance in the poolResponsible for light cleaning and maintenance of the pool, steam room, sauna, and locker room areas of the Recreation CenterResponsible for maintaining personal fitness to be able to perform the above functionsResponsible for performing light maintenance and cleaning on the pools and pool areasMinimum Qualifications:Must possess a current Lifeguard Training certification to include life guarding, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and first aid skillsMust be able to complete all swimming skills in correspondence with the life guarding examGood interpersonal skills to communicate with the public and co-workersKnowledgeable in emergency action plansAbility to work a flexible scheduleA self-starter–ability to look for jobs that need to be doneEducation:One year of high school completedExperience:Previous experience in lifeguarding preferredOther:Water Safety Instructor certification preferredWork Environment:Functions will be performed in an environment that will cause exposure to light chemical substances such as chlorinePhysical Requirements:Ability to see and hearAbilities to sit, stand, stoop, bend and walk aboutPossess an audible voice for communicationAbility to perform a water rescue if necessaryAbility to lift up to 50lbs
