Job description
LifeguardLifeguards are responsible for safeguarding swimmers by actively supervising the pool area, enforcing safety rules, performing water rescues, and administering first aid or CPR/AED as needed. They must remain vigilant, alert patrons of hazards, inspect equipment, and activate emergency protocols when necessary.Performance ResponsibilitiesMonitor pools and deck to enforce safety procedures.Proactively prevent hazardous behaviors.Perform rescues, administer CPR, first aid, and use AEDs.Implement Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) when required.Conduct daily equipment and facility safety inspections.Maintain clear communication with staff and patrons.Certification RequirementsLifeguard Certification, from a nationally recognized provider such as American Red Cross, Ellis & Associates, or the American Lifeguard Association.AED, CPR, and First Aid Certification for professional rescuers.Minimum age requirement: At least 15 years old to work in pools; 15 year?olds will require work permits and must meet certification standards.Knowledge, Skill, and Ability RequirementsStrong swimming skills (e.g., 200?300 yd swim, brick retrieval)Ability to handle physically and mentally demanding emergency situationsClear communication and sound judgment under pressure
