Lifeguard PositionThe City of Brooklyn Center is looking to fill temporary part-time lifeguard positions for the Community Pool. This position will conclude December 12 upon pool closure; lifeguards who perform well will be eligible for rehire upon reopening of the pool for the 2027 Summer season. The primary responsibility is to ensure the safety of the patrons at the Brooklyn Center Community Center pool.The Community Center is open Monday through Saturday. Lifeguards are scheduled 7:45a.m.-9:15p.m. Monday-Friday and 7:45a.m.-8:15p.m. Saturday. We are looking for candidates that can work evenings and Saturdays. Lifeguards will be required to be available to cover two weekend shifts per month based on business needs for public safety.Examples of DutiesPrevention of and quick response to any emergenciesMaintain safety of all individuals in the pool area (including locker rooms, exercise room and sauna)Maintain a positive, helpful attitude with all building staff and publicMaintain an appropriate and professional appearance at all timesMaintain an appropriate level of fitnessEnforce and follow all facility policies, rules and regulationsInspect the facility on a daily basis and report unsafe conditions and equipment to supervisorsRemain current in all certificationsComplete all records and reports in a timely mannerParticipate in all staff meetingsPerform daily operational tasksWork all assigned shifts or find an approved substituteComply with Minnesota Department of Health standards, practices and requirements for public pool safety and regulations mandated by local, state and federal agenciesComplete additional duties as assigned by supervisorMinimum QualificationsAmerican Red Cross Lifeguarding (Including Deep Water) with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid CertificateAmerican Red Cross Standard First AidMust be at least 15 years oldDesired Qualification16 years oldSupplemental InformationSelection Process Candidates meeting minimum qualifications and are selected to interview will also partake in a skills demonstration.BenefitsThere are no benefits associated with this position.
