Job description
LifeguardResponsible for the safety of the patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies.Essential FunctionsRecognize emergencies and respond to them effectivelyEnforce all aquatic rules, policies, and regulations to ALL patronsInspect the facility before opening and closing to report any unsafe conditions or equipment to the supervisorComplete all paperwork during shiftsParticipate in regular in-service training sessionsSign-in all bathers using the facilityPick up any and all types of trash in and around the pool facilityKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesThorough knowledge of life guarding surveillance and rescue techniquesAn understanding of facility characteristics, rules, policies, and proceduresLeadership and public relation skillsDecision making skillsEducation and ExperienceCurrent certification in the following is needed:American Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard Training/First AidAmerican Red Cross or American Heart CPR for the Professional RescuerAmerican Red Cross Waterfront Life guarding, if working at 5-Mile PondBenefitsThis position is not eligible for benefits.
