Job description

Litigation Associate, Bodily Injury Defense | Miami, FL | $125,000 to $200,000 | Bodily Injury / Personal Injury Defense

Eight depositions in a month is a good month. Eight depositions in a month where you took two and sat second chair for the rest is a frustrating one.

If your calendar is full but your experience isn't growing at the same rate, the problem probably isn't you.

I'm Ryan Jaiswal at Distinct Recruitment, hiring a bodily injury defense associate in Miami for a client firm. The headline is simple: you take the depositions, you argue the hearings and you get to trial.

In short

• Bodily injury and personal injury defense, Miami, hybrid

• $125,000 to $200,000

• 1,950 billable hours

• Real file ownership and courtroom time from the start

The work in more detail

• Defending insureds in auto, premises and other negligence based injury claims

• Running your own caseload: evaluation, discovery, experts, motions and mediation

• Deposing plaintiffs, treating physicians, life care planners and economists

• Defending your clients' depositions and preparing them properly beforehand

• Hearings in your own name, trial preparation and trial, with first chair cases as you progress

• Reporting to and advising adjusters, with your name as the contact

What you'll need

• 2+ years of Florida civil litigation, bodily injury defense preferred

• Florida Bar license

• Resilience in a busy venue, and the organization to stay ahead of your files

For senior people

The role is just as much for a senior associate or counsel level lawyer as for anyone earlier on. More experience means the higher value injury files, lead trial roles, supervising others and direct carrier relationships. The salary band is wide by design so that experience is paid properly.

Why Miami bodily injury work is worth doing well

Miami Dade is one of the busiest litigation venues in the state. Lawyers who learn to manage volume there without losing quality become very effective, very quickly, and carriers notice. This role is set up so you build that skill with your name on the work.
