Litigation Associate | Boca Raton, FL | $125,000 to $200,000 | General Liability
Slip and falls, negligent security, premises claims, product incidents. General liability defense is wonderfully unpredictable, which is exactly why it's such a good place to learn how to try a case.
No two files look the same. One week you're working out how a puddle came to be on a supermarket floor; the next you're deposing a security expert about lighting in a parking garage. Juries find these cases relatable, so they reward lawyers who can tell a clear and sensible story.
I'm Ryan Jaiswal at Distinct Recruitment. I'm hiring a Litigation Associate in Boca Raton for an insurance defense firm with a busy general liability practice.
The work itself
• Premises liability, negligent security, products and general negligence claims
• Your own files from first notice to resolution
• Site inspections, witness interviews and early investigation
• Written discovery and strategy reports to carriers
• Taking depositions of plaintiffs, witnesses and experts
• Arguing motions and handling hearings
• Mediations and trial preparation, with courtroom involvement as cases are tried
Exposure
This is where the role shines. The firm wants associates in front of clients, in depositions and in court early in their careers. You won't be preparing outlines for someone else to use. Partners are available to guide you, and they'll let you lead.
Who should apply
• Associates with 2+ years of litigation experience
• Florida Bar members
• Lawyers with defense or GL experience, or strong litigators keen to focus on it
• People who are organized, curious and enjoy working out what really happened
The setup
• Hybrid working, based in Boca Raton
• 1,900 billable hours
• $125,000 to $200,000. That's broad by design, so it suits mid level associates through to counsel level lawyers
Why it matters for your career
The skills you build in general liability defense travel well: fact investigation, witness preparation, persuasive storytelling and trial work. An associate who handles a GL docket with real responsibility for a few years becomes a very complete litigator.
