Job description
Litigation Attorney | Death & Horses | Calabasas, CA $125,000 to $175,000 base, depending on experience, plus production and origination bonuses. Most law firms are looking for a serious associate. We’re looking for a seriously good litigator who doesn’t take themselves too seriously.
The Yoshida Firm is a litigation boutique in Calabasas. We handle life’s toughest disputes, and our practice fits in three words: Death and Horses. That means contested trusts and estates, elder financial abuse, wrongful death, and equine disputes in the rarefied world of showjumping.
You’ll be our first associate. There’s no cubicle farm and no seven-layer approval chain. Nobody will tell you “that’s how we’ve always done it,” because we opened in 2025 and haven’t always done anything. We like creativity, ingenuity and good ideas, wherever they come from. And we don't have strict billable hour quotas. We reward quality over quantity, and value mental and physical health.
What you’ll do
Litigate contested trust, estate and elder abuse matters from petition to trial: discovery, depositions, motions, and trial in civil and probate court
Help families get justice in wrongful death cases
Learn how to build your own book of business and get paid when you bring in clients
Pitch ideas about how a modern law firm should run, and then help us build it
Put AI agents to work on the grind so you can spend your brain on strategy and people
You might be our person if
You are a California Bar licensed attorney with no disciplinary record
You have 2 to 7 years of California litigation experience, including contested trust and estate work
You’ve taken depositions, argued motions and stood up in court on your own
You genuinely like meeting people, and you know a coffee meeting can turn into a client
You can make a short video that people watch on purpose
You’re funny, or at least you know when to be
You're AI savvy
Bonus points
Wrongful death or personal injury experience
You ride, own, train, groom or otherwise spend weekends around horses - or have a strong interest in them.
What we offer
$125,000 to $180,000 base, depending on experience
Monthly production bonuses and origination bonuses on clients you bring in
Direct mentorship from an entrepreneurial, well-connected founder and a real path to running your own book of business and caseload
Negotiable benefits, including health insurance, vision, paid time off, and a 401k
A relaxed firm where your ideas get used, not filed away
How to apply: We skip the writing sample. Send your resume and a short note telling us about:
A few cases you’re proud of
An AI workflow you built
Your horse story, if you have one (no horse story? Tell us something that makes us laugh)
