Job description
Burke, Williams & Sorensen is a full-service law firm with deep expertise in labor and employment litigation and provides high-quality legal services to public agencies, private entities, and individuals throughout California. We are seeking an associate with 2-5 years of experience to join our expanding Litigation team in the Oakland office. This position follows a hybrid schedule, with a minimum of two days per week in the Oakland office.
The ideal candidate will have experience with:
Civil litigation, preferably involving public agencies, government tort liability, civil rights, constitutional law, personal injury, or complex civil matters
Support partners and senior attorneys in all phases of litigation, including case assessment, discovery, motion practice, mediation, and trial preparation
Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on substantive legal issues
Manage case deadlines and ensure timely filings and compliance with procedural rules
Participate in client interviews, witness preparation, depositions, mediations, and trial preparation
Strong work ethic, self-starter mentality, and team-oriented mindset
Admission to the State Bar of California
he anticipated base salary range for this position is $150,000–$175,000, plus annual performance-based bonuses. Actual compensation will depend on experience and qualifications. The actual salary within that range will depend on the selected candidate’s years of practice and experience.
