Job description
System / Network Engineer - MSP
Contract Duration: 3-6 months convert to permanent.
Location : 100% remote
End-to-end Project Delivery background with firewall knowledge – jack of all trades
MSP experience required
Detailed focus on muti-project work, and heavy knowledge with firewalls (SonicWall, Watchguard, etc.)– rebuilding firewall configuration and migrations
Skills Needed
At least 3 to 7 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
Intermediate knowledge of Intune and Autopilot
Expertise in Windows configurations and services
Advanced knowledge of DNS (internal and external), networking, both physical and virtual
Active Directory (Both on-premises and Azure AD) - End to end migration ( implement and deploy not just manage and administer)
Azure AD – must have experience deploying and configuring VMs in Azure ; spinning up Azure computing resources at a minimum
Advanced knowledge of virtualization, clustering, and high availability (VMWare, Hyper-V )
Configure Azure AD and Microsoft Entra Connect to O365
Advanced knowledge of M365 licensing, configuration, best practices, and feature set
Ability to write business correspondence and process procedures
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and the general public
Project Scope: The job in question will be clients signing a quote to replace their SonicWall firewall, with a watchguard firewall. The engineer will work with the project manager and on-site resources. The idea is the engineer will get a ticket for the firewall, they will login to the clients SonicWall, scope it, rebuild it as a watchguard firewall configuration , then our procurement team will ship the watchguard firewall to the client, schedule on-site to rack it for the client. Then we need this engineer on standby when the on-site is connecting the new firewall, to confirm if everything is functional. During downtime when they are not doing the above, in cases we don’t have enough project work, I will utilize them on other firewall tasks with the vulnerability team.
Bonus points for
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience acceptable
Certifications: MS Based Certifications, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, VMware VCP, ITIL, etc.
Experience with ConnectWise (Manage, Automate, Control)
Subject matter expert for specific technologies (e.g., Microsoft, VMware, Citrix, Cisco, etc.)
What you will be doing
Deploy advanced technical solutions, including but not limited to new deployments and service modifications
Maintain minimum billable utilization of 80%
Provide excellent support to customers remotely or onsite as needed
Execute complex migrations and configurations
Documenting migration and infrastructure changes and preparing for stead state support post implementation
Communicate clearly both internally and externally to the progress, issues, and scope changes needed on projects
Able to pivot and provide solutions when plans change or do not meet the requirements of the project
Provide input and recommendations to the team to assist with project creation and planning
Design and build GPOs to enforce policies across organizations
Install and configure virtual machines and hosts
Build cloud and on-premises physical servers
Troubleshooting of advanced applications and servers
Build and design networks, including network and firewall configurations, switch configurations and Wireless networks
Build and design Active Directory infrastructure following best practices and taking into consideration client needs (on-premises Active Directory as well as Azure AD)
Deploy high-availability infrastructure (networking, virtualization, clustering)
Deploy backup and recovery technologies
