\ NGeneral Job Responsibilities:
\ N Provide comprehensive cardiac care to patients in various inpatient and outpatient settings.
\ N Perform diagnostic procedures such as electrocardiograms (EKGs), echocardiograms, and stress tests.
\ N Interpret diagnostic tests and develop treatment plans for various cardiovascular conditions.
\ N Perform cardiac catheterization and interventional procedures (depending on the cardiologist's subspecialty).
\ N Educate and counsel patients on heart disease prevention, risk factors and healthy lifestyle choices.
\ N Collaborate effectivelywith other healthcare professionals (nurses, surgeons, specialists) to ensure coordinated patient care.
\ N Maintain accurate and complete medical records for all patients.
\ N Stay current on the latest advancements in cardiology through continuing education.
\ N Skills:
\ N In-depth knowledge of cardiology principles and practices, including diagnosis, treatment and prevention of heart disease.
\ N Strong clinical judgment and decision-making abilities in a fast-paced environment.
\ N Excellent communicationand interpersonal skills.
\ N Technical proficiency in performing diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures (if applicable).
\ N Exceptional manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
\ N Meticulous attention todetail and the ability to adapt to changing patient conditions.
\ N Time management and organizational skills to manage a patient workload effectively.
\ N Minimum Education Requirements:
\ N Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
\ N Residency training program in internal medicine accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
\ N Fellowship training in cardiology (may be preferred depending on the position).
\ N License & Certifications:
\ N Board certification in cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) or the AOA.
\ N Active and unrestrictedmedical license in Illinois
\ N Experience:
\ N While specific requirements may vary, most locum cardiologist positions prefer candidates with at least one year of experience providing cardiac care in a clinical setting.
