CRNA Job Requirements
At least 1 year of Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) experience
Current registered professional nurse license in good standing
Graduation from a nurse anesthesia education program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA) or its predecessor
Current certification or recertification through the AANA Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists or the AANA Council on Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists
Board certification or fellowship training required
Ability to provide safe, effective anesthesia care across a broad range of surgical specialties
General CRNA Responsibilities
Complete pre-anesthesia evaluations and verify patient consent
Discuss anesthetic options, risks, and expected outcomes with patients
Perform induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia
Monitor and manage patients' physiological condition throughout the perioperative period
Provide anesthesia care for general, orthopedic, obstetric, and pediatric procedures
Perform appropriate clinical interventions and respond to changes in patient status
Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary care team to promote quality patient outcomes
