Position Type: Locum | Physician - Gastroenterology
Overview
A hospital in Richmond, VA is seeking a Board Certified Gastroenterologist for weekend call coverage due to a temporary gap in coverage. The provider will support hospital-based gastroenterology services and perform a range of advanced endoscopic procedures.
Practice Highlights
• Weekend Hospital Call Coverage (Saturday-Sunday)
• Clinical Areas: Adult | Hospital | Office/Clinic
• Average 8 procedures per weekend
• Procedures include GSI, Hepatology, Colonoscopy, EGD, ERCP and related services
• Lab & X-Ray available onsite
• EMR: Epic
• No trauma designation
Coverage Dates
• March 20 - March 23
Estimated Credentialing Timeline: ~90 days
Required Procedures
• Esophageal Dilatation / Manometry
• Esophageal Manometry Interpretation
• Small Bowel Biopsy
• Lower GI Endoscopy
• Sigmoidoscopy
• Colonoscopy
• Liver Biopsy
• Sengstaken/Blakemore Tube Insertion & Management
• Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS)
Upper GI Endoscopy including:
• Biopsy
• Foreign Body Removal
• Bleeder Fulguration (Cautery/Laser)
• Variceal Injection & Banding
• ERCP (Diagnostic & Therapeutic)
• PEG (Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy)
Candidate Requirements
• Board Certified - REQUIRED
• Active Virginia License - REQUIRED
• ERCP Certification - REQUIRED (Must confirm at name clear)
• Flu Shot - REQUIRED
• COVID Vaccine - Highly Preferred
• Clean Malpractice History - REQUIRED (for temporary privileges)
• Clean Background - REQUIRED
• NPDB Self-Query within 30 days - REQUIRED
• Must be available for the open shift to be considered
