This on-site emergency medicine PA opportunity offers 12-hour day shifts in a busy emergency department serving adults, pediatric patients, and trauma cases. Locum Tenens Job Details Specialty: Emergency Medicine Provider Type: Physician Assistant (PA) Employment Type: Locum tenens Location: Sumter, South Carolina Estimated Weekly Pay: $4,490–$4,810 Start Date: November 2, 2026 End Date: February 1, 2027 Contract Duration: Approximately 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour day shifts, approximately 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. Schedule: 7 days on and 7 days off, with coverage needed approximately 2 weeks per month Call: None Electronic Medical Record: Epic Openings: 2 Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant Requirements Physician Assistant certification and current clinical practice experience At least 2 years of post-training emergency medicine experience Emergency Medicine board certification required Active South Carolina Physician Assistant license required Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications Active DEA registration required Recent electronic medical record experience; Epic experience preferred Ability to complete credentialing and privileging requirements, which may take several months, particularly without an active South Carolina license Professional history must meet applicable credentialing standards Flu, MMR, and varicella compliance required; applicable waivers may be accepted Emergency Medicine PA Responsibilities Evaluate, diagnose, and treat emergency department patients across the lifespan Provide emergency care for a patient population consisting primarily of adults, along with pediatric and trauma cases Perform comprehensive patient histories, physical examinations, medical decision-making, and treatment planning Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, and other emergency department support staff Use Epic for timely and accurate emergency medicine documentation Manage a broad range of urgent and emergent conditions using appropriate emergency medicine resources and equipment Participate in a 7-on/7-off schedule while maintaining high standards of patient safety and quality care Apply now for this locum tenens Physician Assistant opportunity in Sumter, South Carolina, and join a collaborative emergency medicine team.
