Physician Assistant | Surgery - Thoracic Location: Boston, MA Employer: WhiteCoat Locums Pay: $140 per hour Shift Information: Nights - 3 days x 12 hours Start Date: ASAP About the Position Thoracic Surgery Physician Assistant Assignment Details Location: Boston, Massachusetts Provider Type: Physician Assistant Specialty: Thoracic Surgery Practice Setting: Inpatient / Acute Care Hospital Coverage Type: Scheduled Night Coverage / No Call Start Date: October 19, 2026 Expected Duration: Approximately 5-6 Months Coverage Reason: Maternity Leave EMR: Epic Compensation Hourly: $140/hour Schedule Monday-Sunday 2-3 Shifts Per Week 12-Hour Night Shifts Shift: 6:30 PM-7:00 AM No Call Patient Population / Volume Patient Population: Adults and Geriatrics Approximately 15-25 Patients Per Shift Maximum Census Typically 25 Patients Clinical Responsibilities Provide Inpatient Thoracic Surgery Coverage Manage Postoperative Thoracic Surgery Patients Manage Patients on the Inpatient Floor, Step-Down Unit, and Patients Transferred From the OR or ICU Perform History and Physical Examinations for Patients Transferred From Outside Hospitals Provide Initial Response to Urgent Clinical Situations Until Additional Support Arrives Manage Chest Tubes, Blake Drains, and Pigtail Catheters Perform and Manage ABGs Manage Nasogastric Tubes Manage G-Tubes and J-Tubes Required Procedures / Skills Thoracic Surgery Patient Management Postoperative Patient Management Chest Tube Management Blake Drain Management Pigtail Catheter Management ABG Nasogastric Tube Management G-Tube Management J-Tube Management History and Physical Examinations Clinical Environment / Support Physician Assistant Provides Primary Overnight Floor Coverage Thoracic Surgery Fellow Available Overnight for Support Fellow Also Covers the Emergency Department, Rounding, and Consultations Code Team Available for Emergencies Requirements NCCPA Certification - Required Minimum of 1 Year of Experience - Required At Least 2 Years of Clinical Experience in Thoracic Surgery - Required ACLS - Required BLS - Required DEA Registration - Required Epic Experience - Preferred Massachusetts License Not Required at Submission Candidates Requiring Licensure Will Not Be Accepted Credentialing Standard Credentialing Timeframe: Approximately 90 Days Temporary Privileges May Be Considered614ebcce-2988-4a21-9a10-1fc0c5beffbb
