Interim Medical Leadership | 33 Protected Admin Hours/Month | Level II Trauma
Rhino Medical is seeking an experienced Emergency Medicine physician leader to serve as an interim Site Medical Director for a high-volume Emergency Department in Fort Walton Beach, Florida .
Beginning October 2026 , this locum tenens leadership assignment combines protected administrative time with active clinical practice while the organization conducts its permanent leadership search. The incoming Medical Director will have regional physician leadership available for mentorship and support during transition.
Leadership Assignment
Interim Site Medical Director
October 1, 2026 start
Ongoing until permanent leadership is secured
120 hours per month
33 administrative hours
87 clinical hours
Minimum 3 years of prior physician leadership experience
Two initial shadow shifts
Regional Medical Director available for transition support and mentorship
Clinical Schedule
Clinical shifts vary approximately 9–12 hours
Administrative blocks structured in approximately 8-hour increments
Site Medical Director typically does not work nights unless operationally necessary
44 physician coverage hours daily
46 NP/PA coverage hours daily
Emergency Department
44 ED bays
Level II Trauma
Adult and pediatric emergency care
Approximately 1.5 patients per hour
25% admission rate
NP/PA-supported lower-acuity triage
MEDITECH EMR
Requirements
Board Certified in Emergency Medicine
Minimum 3 years of prior leadership experience
Active Florida medical license
Active Florida DEA
Immediate and ongoing availability
Strong professional and credentialing history

This is an uncommon opportunity for an experienced Emergency Medicine leader to step directly into site-level medical leadership with protected administrative time, substantial physician and NP/PA coverage, limited routine night responsibility, and active clinical practice in a Level II Trauma environment .
