The role involves 12-hour shifts covering both day and night hours, with a clinical focus on managing primarily low acuity cases and occasional higher acuity walk-ins within a Level 2 trauma environment. The department features 10 ER bays, triage support, and standard emergency support staff, providing a well-supported setting for continuous coverage. For emergency physicians capable of independently managing shifts, with experience in low to moderate acuity settings, this position offers a stable and consistent clinical environment with APP support during all shifts. Opportunity Highlights Location: Independence, MO Emergency Medicine Physician Locum Tenens Ongoing Coverage Level 2 Trauma Designation at main facility 10 ER bays, 1 triage space Shift Length: 12 hours (day and night) Shifts: 7:00–19:00 and 19:00–07:00 Single provider coverage with nurse/APP triage support Patient volume: approximately 1.6 patients per hour Mostly low acuity cases, occasional higher acuity walk-ins Practice Environment This emergency department serves as a primary care destination in Independence, featuring a modern ER setting with dedicated support staff, triage processes, and typical emergency care infrastructure. Providers will operate within a collaborative team including emergency nurses and advanced practice providers, supported by a community hospital with no trauma designation at FSER but Level 2 trauma at the main hospital.
