This position involves 12-hour shifts with physician and mid-level staffing, servicing approximately 16,000 patient encounters annually within a modern Emergency Department. Opportunity Highlights Marion, Virginia Emergency Medicine Physician Locum Tenens Ongoing Coverage 44 hospital beds Epic EMR platform 12-hour shifts with 9-hour mid-level staffing coverage Approximately 16,000 annual patient encounters Schedule details specify shift times, with no specific mention of weekends or holidays Modern hospital setting within a community hospital Practice Environment This hospital-based emergency department serves as a key referral and stabilization center in Marion, Virginia. The ED features a dedicated physician and advanced practice provider coverage model supported by the Epic EMR. Providers will experience a streamlined workflow, clinical support for a broad spectrum of emergency conditions, and access to comprehensive inpatient resources. Coverage Model 12-hour shift schedule supported by mid-level providers 38 beds in the emergency department Physician coverage aligned with volume demands Epic EMR platform for documentation and order entry Clinical Responsibilities Evaluation, stabilization, and management of emergency patients across a broad case mix Performing emergency procedures within scope of practice Coordination with consulting specialists and inpatient teams as needed Documentation within Epic EMR in accordance with hospital standards Collaboration with nursing and ancillary staff Candidate Requirements MD degree from an accredited 4-year medical school Completion of an ACGME/AOA-approved 3-year residency in emergency medicine, family medicine, or internal medicine Active, unrestricted VA medical license with DEA registration for VA address Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine (ABEM, AOBEM, ABMS FM, IM, or EM) ACLS, ATLS, PALS (if not BC in EM or EM trained) Immunizations including MMR, Varicella, TB testing or QuantiFERON Gold, and current flu vaccination Case logs for the past two years demonstrating clinical experience CME/CEU requirements for preeclampsia management, updated every two years Why Physicians Move on This Stable, community hospital setting with consistent patient volume Modern EMR platform (Epic) for efficient documentation Clear shift structure supporting work-life balance Regional environment conducive to a balanced lifestyle Ongoing opportunity with predictable scheduling potential About Marion, Virginia Nestled in the scenic region of southwestern Virginia, Marion offers a tranquil community with outdoor recreation, a rich local history, and a welcoming atmosphere.
