Doctor of Medicine | Emergency Medicine Location: Mason City, IA Employer: Rhino Medical Pay: Competitive weekly pay (inquire for details) Contract Duration: 2 Weeks Start Date: ASAP About the Position Mason City, Iowa Emergency Medicine Physician Locum Tenens Opportunity ~33K Annual ED Volume | 9- & 12-Hour Shifts | Level III Trauma | Physician APP Coverage | Epic Rhino Medical is leading the charge seeking Emergency Medicine Physicians for substantial ongoing locum tenens coverage in Mason City, Iowa . With an average of approximately 15 open shifts per month , this opportunity is particularly well suited for physicians who want meaningful recurring availability rather than an occasional shift. Practice in a Level III Trauma Center and regional referral environment with physician and APP coverage, strong specialty resources and the ability to keep the overwhelming majority of patients within the system. Opportunity Highlights Approximately 15 open shifts per month Coverage currently available November 2026 through January 2027 9- and 12-hour shifts Day, swing and night coverage available Approximately 33,000 ED visits annually Average approximately 77 ED patients per day Level III Trauma Center Physician APP coverage Epic EMR No call No inpatient or outreach responsibilities Teaching environment Less than 3% of patients transferred out Coverage Model 1–2 physicians covering daytime hours 1 physician covering overnight hours 1–2 Advanced Practice Providers Physician supervision of APPs expected Peak ED activity generally occurs between 11A–11P Current coverage includes a substantial mix of 7A–7P days, 7P–7A nights and 5P–2A swing shifts , with additional daytime coverage appearing in January. Physicians able to provide a significant number of shifts are particularly valuable to the current need. Practice Environment This is a full-service emergency medicine environment supported by a broad range of hospital-based specialties. Current public information also confirms 24/7 hospitalist coverage, air medical and ambulance services, CT/MRI access within the emergency department and bedside ultrasound . The hospital supports graduate medical education programs, reinforcing the client's characterization of this as a teaching environment .
